We are currently searching for commis chefs and demi chef de parties (Assistant Cooks and 2nd Cooks) who are eager to learn by working in different outlets, whether it's a small intimate fine dining restaurant, a large busy Italian lunch buffet, producing picnics for guests on tour, Italian speciality pizzas and pastas, crew meals or even an outdoor bbq grill.

 

Your role is to ensure that every plate in your area is up to our very high standards, meets both presentation and taste expectations and your section meets all health, safety and food hygiene standards. As part of the team for the galley, you will also be involved in food hygiene inspections, stock control, ordering, rostering and training. Looking for a qualified Buffet Attendant for an international cruise liner. The Buffet Attendant will provide a safe, friendly, quick and professional food service for Guests at one of the outdoor buffets on the vessel.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first class food service at the outdoor (lido or poolside) buffet areas.
  • Fulfill a wide range of food duties including the setting up of the buffet, preparation of cutlery in rolled napkins, operating the beverage station (indoor or outdoor) and clearing tables used by Guests.
  • Clean and sanitize the buffet areas before, during and after service.
  • Comply with Sanitation food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Any other duty which may be assigned in the scope of competence.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High School or College Graduate.
  • Good and demonstrated working knowledge of the operation of a fast-turnover, high-class restaurant or cafetaria.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in any major other languages is an advantage (German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, Chinese, etc.)
  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in a 5-star hotel or restaurant service (including Job Training) or one completed contract in this or a similar F&B position (including Messrooms or room service) on a Cruise vessel.
  • Proven ability to work in a harmonious and productive team environment.

Preference will be given to applicants who already have their Seaman Book & Basic Safety Training Certificates; relevant training for other applicants will be organized accordingly

  • Consistently will coach staff to interact with every guest, observe and identify guests’ preferences and adjust service accordingly, anticipate guests’ needs, and engage in conversation while showing genuine interest at all times.
  • Always responds promptly – and coaches junior staff to respond promptly – to resolve guest requests and concerns, following up with guests as appropriate, and escalating/reporting to the Bar Supervisor as necessary.
  • Regularly coaches’ staff to nurture a memorable connection with every guest by remaining engaged through the completion of service.
  • Routinely highlights the Good Spirits theme and any special offers associated with the location to guests.
  • Assists, hosts, and provide training to the bar staff; to expose all to the craft cocktails available in the Good Spirits location, along with an overview of the experience.
  • Follows the Good Spirits uniform standards, and the Company’s grooming policies.

Qualifications

  • Preferably a graduate of a recognized Hotel/Bar operation or bar school.
  • Two years of experience in hospitality/cruise-related bartender position.
  • Must have experience with Molecular Mixology or Bar shows.
  • Experience and knowledge of USPH, the Beverage Industry, specializing in Wines, Cocktails, Spirits and all other beverage-related products including the service execution of all of the above.
  • Excellent man-management and Bartending skills, able to develop and motivate and lead a large team.
    Outgoing personality and entertainment skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions which positively impact the overall guest experience.
  • Command of the English language, both verbal and written
